The Beauty of White Gold Engagement Ring

Indeed, rings - regardless of its kind - are beautiful and stunning. Depending on your purpose, rings are always valuable and sentimental.

Through the years, the use of rings has always been associated with weddings and engagements. And among the so many types and kinds of rings that have emerged over time, one of most popular choices of brides and grooms is gold.

Today, wanting to veer away from the traditional color of yellow in gold, more and more couples choose white gold diamond rings for their engagement. The contemporary beauty of white gold diamond engagement rings never fail to get the attention of countless future brides and grooms out there because it exudes elegance, simplicity, modernism and power all at the same time.

If you are already looking forward to wearing a precious diamond engagement ring on your finger, then you might as well do a little research about it before finally purchasing it.

According to countless surveys, gold is the most common-not to mention, popular-choice of most couples for their wedding or engagement rings. Gold can either be white golf or yellow gold. Common standards dictates that fine gold jewelry should be mounted in either 14-karat (K) or 18 karat (K) gold.

The 18-karat gold should consist of 18 parts pure gold combines with 6 parts other metals while the 14-karat gold has 14 parts pure gold with 10 parts of other metals. In case of couples looking for their wedding or engagement rings, it is very important that they decide how many karats of they want in a gold mount or shank because it will set the budget and determine some minor advantages and disadvantages.

In market, white gold is more preferable compared to yellow gold. It is also usually harder that's why it can last for longer period of time. It is usually more recommended for a diamond ring mount than yellow gold because it doesn't wash off after years of use.

Although gold yellow appeals because of its glow and bright finish, more and more soon-to-wed couples prefer the simplicity and elegance in their diamond engagement rings.

If you are looking for a valuable and reliable mount for your diamond, then you should settle for an 18-K because it is harder and its resistance against scratches is greater compared to other metals. An 18-K is also recommended compared 14-K because it has whiter color. Also, it doesn't require rhodium in its plate to hide any discoloration that is common to 14-K white gold.

How Do You Define the Color of White Gold?

With the prevalence of ecommerce, wedding preparations have become so much easier. Brides and grooms can now plan their wedding, hire a florist and buy wedding bands with just a few clicks of a button. But with this convenience, came unexpected problems. For example, if you wanted to buy palladium ring, or even for your wedding bands, how would you know that you're getting something that's of high quality?

For a long time, there wasn't an industry accepted definition of what "white" should be when it comes to white gold band. Many companies have adapted rhodium plating in order to hide the true color of the white gold. Of course, this practice is legal in most countries but this has led to a lot of unsatisfied customers in the past.

Finally in 2003, the technicalities of white gold band were discussed and the World Gold Council soon released a set of guidelines to define the color. Today, these guidelines are industry standards and are used internationally.

It is defined as having a yellowness index value of 32.0 or less. The color of white gold is categorized in three ways:

• Grade 1: these are the premium white grade, those alloys which have a good white color and would no longer need rhodium plating.
• Grade 2: these are the standard grade, have a reasonable white color and rhodium plating is optional.
• Grade 3: these are off white in color and would need rhodium plating. These are generally cheaper than the other grades.

Jewelers call it white gold because it is made of gold and a white metal such as nickel or palladium. The hardest is created with nickel alloy. On the other hand, gold-palladium alloys are great for gem setting.

Just like yellow gold, the value of gold is also expressed in carats, with the highest quality pegged at 18 carat and is usually made of palladium - palladium ring. However, in recent years, gold-copper, silver and platinum rings have been produced for weight and durability.

Some white gold rings which are made of nickel alloy can cause allergic reactions to wearers. The typical reaction is a minor skin rash. To prevent this from happening, it is best to look for white gold ring which is made without nickel.

Gold Wedding Ring For Every Wedding Ceremony

On the day of wedding brides and grooms exchange the rings as a part of their marriage vows. It is considered as a token of love and not only love as we have said that this exchanging of rings stands for trust, promise, and companionship. On the left hand on ring finger this ring is worn. There are differences between a wedding ring and an engagement ring. Both can be made of gold, white gold, platinum and titanium. Traditionally wedding rings are made up of gold and silver alloy. But now designers are making rings of platinum and titanium. They are more durable and beautiful than a gold or silver ring. Platinum and titanium rings have a classy look with diamonds setting. Apart from diamonds valuable stones like emerald, ruby and sapphire make these rings impressive and give them a rendering beauty. Just be sure and have a clear idea about the price and make your choice.

But till now nothing can replace the priority of gold among the couples. Gold is such a metal which can not lose its aura, its shininess and beauty over the years. Gold, as a metal is a lovely yellow color. Gold is favorable because it is looking good when it is worn and giving the right shape to it is easy and it is also durable. Pure gold is also very malleable at 24 carats so it is easy to design and shape. However, the best thing about the gold wedding ring is that it is available in different shades, designs and goes well with other metals too. If you want to purchase wedding ring made out of gold then you can quite different, inspiring shades like rose, green and even white gold.

Now you may not be sure about the factor that which type of gold ring would be perfect for the design you choose. Sometimes it is good to choose a type that is not 24 carat because every design is not suitable for 24c gold. This is because a higher carat that this would make the ring prone to twisting and going out of shape. So ensure that you select a wedding band that is either 14 c or 18 c. According to your necessity you can order a gold wedding ring which has alloyed metal. Mixture of two or more alloys along with gold to create a special and inexpensive wedding ring can be applied. Also, the more the proportion of gold the more expensive the wedding rings will be. So, to have a long-lasting wedding ring that suits your budget, select the appropriate carat value. Budget is another important thing that can attract you towards choosing a golden ring comparing platinum or tungsten ring.

Another point in favor of a gold wedding ring is that the ring can always be resized when you want to. However, remember that in case of engraving or studding of diamonds or stones, the resizing could get a tad bit difficult. A gold wedding ring is appropriate for a traditional wedding.
